OUR FABULOUS, FANTASTIC FUNDERS. |
PLEASE DONATE IF YOU CAN |
Back in March 2020, when the group was set up to respond to the Coronavirus emergency, we needed some urgent start-up funding.
We were extremely grateful to receive initial grants from Healthy Valleys and Biggar Community Council Incentive Fund which paid for mobile phones for our helpline, poster and flier printing, consumables such as hand sanitiser, masks and ID cards and some volunteers' expenses. We later applied to Foundation Scotland for a grant from the Response, Recovery & Resilience Fund in response to Covid-19, in partnership with the National Emergencies Trust. We were successful and received substantial funding which enabled us to introduce a Hot Meals service. |
In order for us to continue with our community projects we rely on funding. As a charity we have managed to secure grants from a variety of sources, but we also welcome donations from members of our community. If you would like to make a donation, please on the DONATE button below for more information.

In order to continue and expand our Hot Meals service, we applied for further funding from Scottish Government's Wellbeing Fund.
We also decided to try to raise funds from local people using a JustGiving crowd funding page. We exceeded our target by 150% in a few short weeks. We are so grateful to the wonderful people of Biggar for their generosity.
We also applied to Corra Foundation - Shift the Power - Coronavirus Response Fund, funded by Comic Relief. We were successful with this application, enabling us to fund our Afternoon Teas project.

We have made a successful application to the Clyde Windfarm Extension Fund. This will enable us to offer a hot lunch to isolated and vulnerable people on Christmas Day.
South Lanarkshire Council's Community Grant Covid Fund has awarded us with funds so that we can continue with our hot meal service through the winter period. This was followed by a successful application to the Coop Food Fund, providing additional funding for our hot meal service.

In order to facilitate our Winter footpath clearance and gritting project, we applied to the Clyde Wind Farm Fund and the Glenkerie Wind Farm Fund to purchase a gritter. Both of these funds are micro grants administered by Biggar Community Council. The gritter has been put to good use and is certainly easier to use than a wheelbarrow and shovel.
To support our Digital Inclusion project, we made an application to the Enabling Neighbourhoods and Communities Fund, managed by Corra Foundation. We were successful and received funding for iPads and mobile wi-fi devices with data in order to get isolated people in our community online. We were lucky enough to be selected in the monthly draw in the Arnold Clark Community Fund. This will go towards funding hot meals. In partnership with the Gillespie Centre, we applied to The National Lottery Community Fund or funding for a weekly lunch club for elderly and isolated people in our community. Our application was successful. We have received further funding from Healthy Valleys from the Coronavirus Resilience Fund 2 which supports communities to get people back out and leading normal lives once again. We will utilise this money for Christmas lunches and a couple of trips out for elderly and vulnerable members of our community.
