Further changes to lockdown restrictions in Scotland were announced on 18th June by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
Those shielding are now able to go outdoors for exercise from 18th June. From Friday 19th June those shielding can take part in non-contact outdoor activities and can meet one other household, in groups of no more than eight outdoors. Physical distancing and strict hygiene measures must still be followed, even if you live with those people. From 19th June anyone living alone or only with children under 18 can form an ‘extended household group’ with one other household. This does not apply to households with people who are shielding. Extended household groups can meet indoors with overnight stays permitted and without physical distancing, but any other household meetings must remain strictly outdoors and at a two metre distance. Members of an extended household group should not form a similar arrangement with any other household. A summary of the changes announced on 18th June are listed below: NEW - DAISY CHAIN PROJECT Access to free sanitary products during lockdown: We are aware that normal points in Biggar for access to free sanitary products - the Public Toilets, the Library and the High School are currently unavailable. We want to ensure packs are available to whoever needs them and so there is a plastic container located outside St Mary's Hall in Northback Rd with the BCAG logo on it as well as a logo stating Daisy Chain Project. No need to ask anyone, just take a pack if needed. BCAG wants to record the Coronavirus experience for the future. 1. we plan to interview people of all ages, lifestyles and occupations. Alongside these interviews, local photographer, Helen Barrington will be photographing those people who volunteer their stories. 2. we are running a creative arts competition for 5 to 16 year-olds. There are prizes for the winning entries in 4 categories:
3. we are running a photograph competition for 17 to 25 year-olds on INSTAGRAM. Details about the project and the competitions are to be found on our website HERE Please get involved where you can. Pass this information on to your family, friends and neighbours and let's see if we can create a picture for the future of what it was like in Biggar during this unique period of world history.
